Common Operating Picture for Training

—Christopher Klohs, HNTB

Fort Benning, GA: The United States Army Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE) utilizes a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) solution along with emerging Esri technology to support the integration of existing systems to support the training mission. Disparate systems are employed to manage the data associated with the training requirements, geospatial information, and resources on the installation. The MCOE has implemented a web application that provides a common operating picture for this data. The data is assembled in the databases supporting the application using web services for the extract, transfer, load (ETL) process. The application is a geospatially based, operational modeling and decision support tool. The system optimizes scheduling, allocation of resources, and assessment of "what if" analysis for future planning. The collaboration of the data with respect to the physical location allows users to visualize the requirements and impact of training.
