GIS improves the quality, timeliness, and efficiency of analysis and decision making. GIS can be readily integrated in multiple enterprise architectures and can meet rigorous enterprise performance standards. Esri will introduce enterprise GIS concepts, provide an overview of business impact and implementation patterns, and review Esri's commitment to enterprise GIS support. This session will look at various GIS architectural frameworks from both a business and an IT perspective. Several architectural deployment options will be discussed, including methods for choosing alternative architectures. We will relate these architectural strategies to each other in the context of enterprise solutions including client/server, centralized, federated, and service-oriented architectures (SOA), as well as cloud computing, portals, and quality-of-service concepts. The presentation will also include snapshots of various successful enterprise GIS solutions.
