Bringing GIS to Virginia's K-12 Schools

Geospatial technologies offer great opportunities to K-12 education, but delivering the software to the schools and providing professional development to the teachers is a major challenge. We'll discuss the Virginia GIS Consortium and our efforts to make GIS software widely available. We'll also talk about innovative GIS activities in Virginia, including the Geospatial Semester, a dual-enrollment partnership with James Madison University, where high school seniors learn about GIS and apply to local projects as they earn college credit.
