Region V's strategic vision is to ensure processes are continued uninterrupted by designing a service oriented system that allows scalability that supports GIS business functions through a web-based interface, desktop, or mobile applications (smart phones, GPS units, etc.).

Presentation Objective is to discuss and share best practices of FEMA Region 5 GIS Program Lifecycle.

Presentation will Focus on:

  • Internal Stakeholders: Create a sustainable GIS Enterprise System that promotes effective Region V leadership in national preparedness, disaster response and recovery, and hazard mitigation.
  • External Stakeholders: Enable decision making pre and post disaster through State and Local Governments, and other Federal Agencies with efficient data sharing methods and tools.
  • Return on Investments and Life Cycle: This is the overall five year lifecycle, which includes hardware and staff resources. Discuss Budget Process and RACI matrix and Future Job Descriptions based on ESRI.
  • Program Investment Risks: Process for identifying risks.
  • Schedule Management: Importance of Schedule
  • Governance/Organization Structure: Identification of a Governance Structure including all branches to support the Enterprise System.
  • Capacity Planning: Share FEMA Region 5 ESRI Capacity Tool results.
