Understanding and Designing Enterprise Architectures

Implementing GeoSpatial Services in the Navy Environment

—Zac Odom, Geographic Information Services, Inc.

Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) has a unique mission to support planning, maintaining, operating, and protecting the Navy's shore installations. This task is further complicated by the global reach of today's Navy. Each Naval installation is tasked with not only supporting installation level business lines, but with ensuring geospatial information can be aggregated and shared in a global context. This session will discuss issues encountered in the development and deployment of a user driven ArcGIS Server based solution for the NAVFAC GeoReadiness program. Topics include data aggregation and standardization, application accreditation and security posture, and services oriented architecture in a DoD environment.
