Managing Compliance for the Geospatial Enterprise

—Richard Olivieri, HQ ACC A7ZG

ACC GeoBase encompasses a mature geospatial enterprise consisting of 16 CONUS installations, and hundreds of sites in the CENTCOM and SOUTHCOM AORs. The ACC Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) program has evolved from a single production node to a multi-site (e.g., USAF Wings, Numbered Air Forces) system spanning three (3) continents, including cross-service operations with the US Army Central Command (ARCENT). The ACC enterprise provides data replication, high availability, continuity of operations (COOP), distributed content delivery, and both the unclassified and classified viewing platforms required to deliver geospatial data and intelligence for a mission support system.

Managing the data quality, workflows, and adherence to USAF standards is a continuing challenge across all spectrums of the program. This is accomplished holistically through the application of the ACC GeoBase Compliance Plan, and individually (by map layer) with USAF Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) templates. Metrics must be applied to each major program component to accurately gauge the overall efficacy of the entire geospatial enterprise system.
