The Geospatial Platform Offering — Defining the Requirements

The Geospatial Platform 'Offering' will provide users with a shared, cloud-based infrastructure composed of key geospatial services and applications that support common business functions. Geospatial services that can be built once and used many times will be identified and delivered through a geospatial cloud environment, appearing as single points of access for consumers' common geospatial computing needs. The Platform will serve as the Federal focal point for promoting and implementing open and interoperable geospatial standards (including newly adopted standards), and will provide standards-based interfaces to encourage broad adoption of applications developed by other organizations. As part of this process, the FGDC and Geospatial Platform leadership established a Technical Deployment Task Team (TDTT) to recommend a path forward to deploy "mature" capabilities that provide a useful service, can be built upon, and can be undertaken quickly. An inventory of existing and planned resources will be utilized as a starting point for identifying key resources that may be included as the Platform evolves.

This interactive session is intended as a means to begin the dialogue regarding establishing the requirements for the Geospatial Platform Offering. This session will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn about and discuss the proposed service offerings of the Geospatial Platform and will enable participants to offer ideas on mechanisms to encourage stakeholders to help define requirements for Platform services. Attend this session to provide input and feedback on services proposed for the Geospatial Platform to help ensure the offerings meet the needs of your organization, your customers, or your own business requirements.
