ArcGIS Spatial Analyst — Suitability Modeling

—Darren Baird, Esri

Suitability modeling is one of the most useful and common types of modeling performed in GIS. Suitability models are used to answer questions such as where to site a housing development or locate a recruitment center, which locations are most preferred by deer, where and who is at most risk during a fire or chemical spill, and where to site a road between two locations. This session will step through creating a suitability model using a variety of techniques including weighted and fuzzy overlay techniques, explore how preferences and weights are assigned, and discuss how to share this model using ArcGIS Server.
