Getting Started with ArcGIS Explorer

—Bern Szukalski, Esri

ArcGIS Explorer products are integral and integrated components of the ArcGIS system, offering easy-to-use ways to visualize and explore geographic information. Because ArcGIS Explorer is free as well as free to distribute, it provides a solution to enable broader access to GIS content and capabilities throughout organizations or to anyone via the Web.

The ArcGIS Explorer product family includes ArcGIS Explorer Desktop and ArcGIS Explorer Online. ArcGIS Explorer Desktop is a downloadable 2D/3D viewer that works with Web, enterprise, and local data sources and is configurable, extensible, and programmable. ArcGIS Explorer Online is a lightweight browser-based version that leverages ArcGIS services. Both are tightly integrated with ArcGIS Online.

This session will provide an overview of both ArcGIS Explorer Online and ArcGIS Explorer Desktop, with a focus on the new release of ArcGIS Explorer Online. Differences between the two will be discussed with a focus on the best ways to implement each within your organization. Best use strategies will be highlighted, as well as tips for leveraging both to their fullest. The session will be of interest to both new users as well as seasoned users looking to learn more about the latest release.
