AbstractSilver Shield Critical Infrastructure Protection System Track: Critical Infrastructure Protection Author Terrorists seek to destroy, incapacitate, or exploit critical infrastructure and key resources across the United States to threaten national security, cause mass casualties, weaken our economy, and damage public morale and confidence. Silver Shield, Nevada’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Program implements the National Infrastructure Protection Plan (NIPP) for the state of Nevada. The goal of Silver Shield is to make it more difficult for terrorism attacks to succeed and can lessen the impact of attacks that may occur. The Silver Shield approach is unique from other critical infrastructure protection programs across the country in that it incorporates the entire public safety enterprise, utilizing an ‘all hazards’ approach. The Critical Infrastructure Protection System (CIPS) project provides integrated data capture, analysis, and information dissemination across all law enforcement, fire agencies, emergency response agencies, and critical infrastructure managers. This presentation will discuss the role, and value, of GIS in Silver Shield. Eric Apple Esri 380 New York Street Redlands, California 92373 United States Phone: 909-793-2853 E-mail: eapple@Esri.com |
