AbstractStatistics Canada's Crop Condition Assessment Program Track: Agriculture Author(s): Gordon Reichert, David Caissy Statistics Canada has developed and deployed on the Internet a value-added Crop Condition Assessment Program (CCAP) that is capable of monitoring crop and pasture conditions in a near real-time basis using data from the NOAA series of satellites. On a weekly basis Statistics Canada produces and deploys via the Web, dynamic maps and static images comparing the current state of the vegetation with the mean (from 1993), the previous year (same week), the previous week, and the maximum value of normal. The CCAP is a client/server application developed using MapObjects 2 and MapObjects IMS 2.0a along with Java and a Visual Basic application on the server.
