AbstractConservation Technology Support Program Community-Based Brownfields Sites Impact Assessment Track: Environment Management Author(s): David Padgett, Bintou Njie This project focuses on the mapping and remediation of several abandoned gasoline stations located in Chicago's Roseland community. Using ArcView GIS software obtained through the Conservation Technology Support Program, one objective of the project is to map the locations of, and catalog environmental status attribute data for, each site. With community involvement and local funding support, a prospective goal is for the former filling stations to be eventually developed into green spaces and urban gardens. The CITYGreen ArcView extension is used with digital orthophoto quadrangles to produce maps assessing the ecological and socioeconomic benefits of brownfield sites remediation.
