AbstractCustomizing ArcView 3.2 for Retail Analysis Track: Business, Banking, and Insurance Author(s): Jesse O'Neill, Keith Wardrip Employees of Federated Department Stores like to chronicle the development of their GIS and demonstrate it to business users. the research department needed a GIS that would improve the efficiency of both the nonuser and the advanced user. The system, designed in ArcView 3.2, allows for a graphical display of demographic data, proprietary sales data, trade areas, and store locations using both static data and ODBC connections. Various custom functions allow for easy data manipulation and open-ended trade area development, presenting an automated approach to departmental methodologies.
