AbstractAn ArcView Extension for Retrieving Data from WMT-Compliant Map Servers Track: Application Development Author(s): Nadine Alameh The planning support systems group at MIT has developed an ArcView extension that allows users to seamlessly retrieve customized snippets of geospatial data stored in WMT-compliant map servers. The extension uses the latest OGC Web mapping specifications to communicate with various servers. The extension also employs Java to establish the communication with the servers and exchange/parse XML-capable data files. In the event the spatial reference system of the user's view is not supported by a particular map server, the extension uses a fast approximation reprojection module, that applies a linear transformation to the requested image to create an approximate image to the one requested by the user.
