AbstractGIS for Planning of Feeder Bus System for Rail Transit Network Track: Transportation and Logistics Author(s): B.R. Marwah This paper presents the use of GIS for optimal design of the feeder bus system for the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRST). The package is applied to the proposed MRTS for New Delhi, capital city of India with a population more than 10 million. The paper explores the integration of GIS interfaces with optimization models for routing and scheduling of the feeder system. The optimization models perform mode choice analysis between the existing bus system and the proposed MRTS. The influence area of each MRTS station is demarcated, the feeder demand is estimated, routes are generated, and the scheduling plans are prepared. The end user is given an easy-to-use interface for input/output customized in ArcView. B.R.
