AbstractModeling Spatial Uncertainty in Analysis of Archeological Site Distribution Track: Ecology, Archaeology, and Conservation Author(s): David Hansen, Barbara Simpson, G. West In developing data for the analysis of site distributions along the American and Cosumnes Rivers of California, it was recognized that there is uncertainty in the spatial representation of key features. There is uncertainty in both the site location and dimensions of individual sites. There is also uncertainty in the representation of key features for the analysis including the digital representation of stream channels and landforms. Modeling this spatial uncertainty in GIS provides opportunities to explore the relationships between archaeological sites, distance to stream channel, landform, and topography.
