AbstractEnterprise GIS Implementation: The U.S. Pacific Air Forces GeoBase Program Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Robert Buntz, Michal Holliday The U.S. Pacific Air Forces Command is aggressively implementing the Air Force GeoBase Program--an initiative to change the way geographic information resources are attained, maintained, and sustained on Air Force bases worldwide. This session will present lessons learned from a multiyear effort to implement and integrate an enterprise GIS supporting nine major installations and dozens of remote sites and contingency airfields in the Pacific and Asian theaters. Challenges such as assuring commonality while encouraging innovation, business process reengineering, resource advocacy, and integration of geospatial information and service capabilities with existing and emerging IT systems will be explored.
