A Mini Workshop On Marker Symbol Design and Creation
This mini-workshop presents a brief overview of the Data Deja View (DDV)
approach to marker symbol design and creation. It then concentrates on the
technical design issues and constraints that the author has had to deal
with in the programmatic creation of marker symbols. Topics include the
following:
Introduction to the Marker Development Process,
Technical Marker Symbol Design Issues,
Font Foibles: ArcView-3 -vs- ArcInfo-W -vs- ArcGIS-8.
For those wishing to develop their own markers, this presentation will
provide critical information on dealing with the problems likely to be
encountered once one is beyond the fundamentals of using font creation
software and program coding. However, handouts will include either samples
of or download pointers to marker symbol creation code used in ArcView-3,
ArcInfo-W and ArcGIS-8
