AbstractIntegrating GIS with the Property Re-Appraisal and Protest Processes Track: Cadastral and Land Records Author(s): Callista Broome The property reappraisal and protest processes have traditionally revolved around the use of tabular information to set assessment values. This application has been customized to deliver assessment information, such as property type, total actual value, improvement value, land value, sales price, price per square foot or acre, year built, adjusted year built, and land characteristics, at the touch of a button or drop-down menu. The user has the ability to visibly query, see, and change the data using virtual maps directly from a desktop PC using ArcView GIS 3.2, Dialog Designer, and ArcSDE. The focus of the paper will be to guide the reader through the analysis of existing property appraisal information and show how quality assurance/quality control can be achieved using desktop GIS technology.
