AbstractInternet Mapping and GIS Dataset Access: Utah's Strategy Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Bertrand Granberg, Jeannie Watanabe Interactive and static map offerings are proliferating on Web sites of local and state agencies in Utah. Concurrently, the number of GIS data sets download requests made to the Utah State Geographic Information Database (SGID) continues to grow. With these developments in mind, the Utah Automated Geographic Reference Center, working with the Utah CIO's Office, is implementing a strategy to make online maps and GIS data access easy and efficient. This presentation will discuss the implementation of the maps.utah.gov online map index; an HTML-based ArcIMS template designed for public, non-GIS literate audiences; and the SGID GIS data set download indexes that make more than 15,000 GIS data sets available for download via the Internet.
