AbstractUsing CommunityViz to Model Impervious Surface Impacts to Watersheds Track: Modeling Author(s): Michael Prisloe, Peter Hughes The CommunityViz Scenario Constructor (SC) is an extension to ArcView 3.2 that facilitates the creation and testing of "what-if" scenarios. SC uses "automated" themes in which attribute values can be defined by formulas. Formulas also can use data values and spatial properties from other themes. Indicators can be created and displayed as charts that redraw whenever modeled attribute values change. The paper will discuss how SC was used in Marlborough, Connecticut, to create an interactive modeling application that assessed water quality impacts from impervious surfaces in two proposed subdivisions. The application facilitated testing various impervious surface reduction and mitigation techniques.
