AbstractAutomated Facilities Placement Following Landbase Migration Track: Electric and Gas Author(s): Dave Magee This presentation will discuss a pilot project undertaken by Geographic Data Technology (GDT) for Atlanta Gas Light Resources Company (AGL). The project examined the alignment of multiple spatial data sets using control vector data and ArcInfo to facilitate automated facilities migration. As part of ongoing data improvement activities, vector data was acquired from the Georgia State Data Clearinghouse. GDT then conflated the Georgia data into its land base. AGL's street centerline data was correlated to the improved land base. As a by-product of the conflation procedures, geometric control data sets (control vectors) were produced. Typically 10,000 or more control vectors are created for a 12-square mile area. The control data was then applied using ArcInfo, to reposition facility data layers relative to the improved geometry. Using this procedure will allow AGL to automatically reposition other layers in the GIS such as service territories (polygons), valves (points), and pipelines (arcs).
