AbstractUsing ArcView GIS for Community-based Wildlife Monitoring Track: Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management Author(s): Kristopher Hammer Keeping Track is a nonprofit organization based in Huntington, Vermont, whose mission is to inspire community participation in long-term stewardship of wildlife habitat. Keeping Track has developed a data management protocol using ArcView to map field transect data gathered using GPS receivers. Attribute tables are created from wildlife field survey data sheets, and digital photographic documentation of wildlife sign is linked to individual coordinate locations. Analysis of wildlife transect data in conjunction with regional natural resource data layers and property ownership information supports the use of monitoring data by citizens in local and regional conservation planning.
