Abstract
Mobile Internet and Location Based Services in Bavarian Forest National Park
Track: Forestry, Wildlife, and Fisheries Management

At the Technical University of Munich extensive forestal, climatological, and touristical data has been gathered to set-up the "Reference-GIS Bavarian Forest National Park" since 1996. This data pool is the basis for a new interdisciplinary research platform, using the geodatabase as basis for an improved data model. Key activities are analysis of bark beetle spread and entry of current forest inventory data by means of mobile GIS as well as 3D/4D visualization of current and future forest statuses. The core of the project is a geodata server used for silvicultural and touristical applications.
