Abstract
Ecological Network Geodatabase of Kiev City in Ukraine

The project is aimed to create the Ecological Network of Kiev within the framework of the "State Program for the Organization of the National Ecological Network of Ukraine for the period of 2000-2015," which pursues the goals of biodiversity preservation. The creation of the Ecological Network of Kiev is the first step toward completion of the program. It envisages the creation of the GIS database of the Network objects and their current condition. To carry out this task the information from different sources is used, so the task is not only to gather but also to unify and standardize the data in order to create the unite integral network for the further definition of the state of the objects, and decision making in the sphere of biodiversity preservation. Ecological Network of Kiev deals with and mainly includes the territories and the sites of the natural reserve (as the major components of the Network) green areas for public, limited use, or special use and other territories and sites. The creation of the geodatabase is the logical continuation and the contribution to the Kiev City Administration. Since 1996, the Information Analytical System has been addressing the prevention of dangerous enviromental situations in the Kiev City "ecoGIS-KIEV."
