Abstract
The OpenLS Testbed: Real-World Interoperability for Location-Based Services

The OpenGIS Consortium sponsored the OpenLS testbed to develop and demonstrate APIs that support location-based services applications. This testbed involved more than 20 participating companies who cooperated to develop a running environment. This paper will address applications such as vehicle navigation, cell phone or PDA access to directory assistance, and emergency services. It will especially consider the demonstration platform based on Esri and IBM components that included ArcIMS, ArcSDE, IBM WebSphere, and IBM DB2 Spatial Extender.
