AbstractEnterprise GIS Implementation: The Front-End of SEARCA's Regional Knowledge Network Track: System Implementation for GIS Author(s): Alexander Flor, Allan Dela Cruz, Gil Saguiguit This paper presents GIS technology as the backbone of Southeast Asian regional knowledge network (K-Net), capable of (1) performing complex analysis and modeling; (2) integrating all kinds of RDBMSs; (3) supporting geographic data mining and knowledge discovery, and 4) promoting information reuse, distribution, and exchange amongst involved organizations. The initial focus is on developing a set of strategy that would seal the gap of "digital divide," and designing systems infrastructure that could unify fragmented network operations. GIS-enabling of major knowledge sources in the region provides a promising solution to linking K-Net to other global knowledge networks (e.g., g.net).
