AbstractUse of Satellite Imagery in the Highway Planning and Design Lifecycle Track: Remote Sensing and Image Processing Author(s): Philip Lidov, David Vogel Expanding one of the major highways in a major city is an engineering project that has broad impacts including negative public perception. Communicating to the community about the project status and schedules goes a long way toward mitigating the overall perception of the project. This paper tracks how an interstate project used GIS and satellite imagery to keep the parties involved better informed as to the progress of the project. The technologies were also valuable tools for keeping records and creating presentations about the transportation expansion project.
