AbstractMigrating MapObjects Internet Map Server to ArcIMS with ASP and ColdFusion: Lessons Learned Track: Application Development Author(s): Debbie Reusser, Jacqueline Willan ArcIMS 3.1 provides a variety of development environment choices for migrating an existing MapObjects IMS application to ArcIMS. Migrating the nationalatlas.gov MapObjects IMS map engine to ArcIMS has included prototyping and evaluation in two of these development environments--ASP (Active Server Pages) and ColdFusion. The ability to implement existing functionality and future enhancements while considering Web hosting hardware and software requirements defined the migration path in the beginning. Spatial and tabular data storage and access as well as user community considerations refined that path. Lessons learned traveling this migration course provide a comparison of functionality for evaluating these two development environments. Debbie Reusser U. S.
