AbstractBridging the Spatial Divide Track: New Technology and Technology Integration Author(s): Raymond Obuch, Craig Wandrey, Greg Gunther The U.S. Geological Survey's Central Energy Team conducts assessments on the occurrence, formation, evolution, and quantity of oil, gas, and coal resources. Assessing energy resources requires extensive use of proprietary and public domain data sets and a variety of computer information and GIS technologies including ArcGIS, Oracle, Spatial Data Engine, and ArcIMS. Integrating Oracle business tables, formulating proper data relationships, and linking ArcSDE spatial features increases the ability to perform complex spatial queries, develop analysis scenarios, and obtain timely and comprehensive assessment results. These processes fully utilize information technology investments and increase productivity and efficiency of the organization.
