AbstractCoverages to Geodatabase: A Case Study for Water Utilities Track: Water Distribution, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Kim Holden, Mark Rytilahti, Matt McCain The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority(RWA) serves a population of 400,000 in 12 cities and towns surrounding New Haven. GIS technology has been used at RWA since 1988. As the amount of GIS data increased, it became evident that although the GIS was being used, it also contained a number of deficiencies. The most evident were poor data quality, inadequate access to GIS data for users, an undocumented database design, and a minimal number of end user applications. This paper describes how RWA developed and executed a plan to overcome these deficiencies and embrace next generation Esri GIS technology.
