AbstractUtilizing GIS Spatial Tools for Optimal Golf Course Management Track: Agriculture Author(s): Kevin Hutchins, Thomas McCarthy This paper illustrates the growth of a GIS for golf course management. ArcView in association with ArcView Spatial Analyst, other extensions, and customized input tools have incorporated daily conditions for real-time management at the Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco, California. The GIS has assisted in many different disciplines that in turn have played a part in course decision analysis, specifically, asset management (structures, pipes, catchments, and sprinklers) and integrated pest management (tracking fungi, diseases, weeds, herbicide usage, and chemical usage). This project has assisted in course management decisions such as pursing of inventory, methods of pest control, and course design.
