AbstractInteractive Online Mapping for Alabama Waterways Using ArcIMS Track: Water Resources Author(s): Rose Dopsovic, Mark Penton Using state-of-the-art geographic information system (GIS) technology, an Internet Map Server (ArcIMS) has been implemented to provide waterway users with channel condition information in a graphical and easily maintainable format. This system is dynamic and able to easily convey any number of georeferenced attributes that the Tuscaloosa Site Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains. Using a compilation of Web technologies, such as JavaScript, XML, and ASP, a customized ArcIMS interface has been created for this waterway mapping Web site. All users, regardless of skill level, have the ability to retrieve and analyze a wide variety of information all through their Web browser.
