AbstractArcInfo 8.1 and NPDES Track: Water Distribution, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Jim Kiles, Gil Inouye Authorized by the Clean Water Act, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II permit program controls water pollution by regulating stormwater sources that discharge pollutants into waters of the United States. The very nature of these environmental issues-associated with a definite spatial component-makes NPDES regulating and outfall tracking ideal for a GIS using the ArcInfo 8.1 integrated database model, the geodatabase. This presentation describes the creation of a stormwater geodatabase model by Woolpert LLP that efficiently prepares agencies by giving them a rules-based storage mechanism for many elements of their NPDES features.
