AbstractDredge Disposal Site Selection System for the NJ IntraCoastal Waterway Track: Ocean, Coastal, and Marine Resources Author(s): Daniel Levine An ArcView Software-based decision support system was developed to enable the Philadelphia District Corps of Engineers to identify placement areas for sediment disposal. The New Jersey Intracoastal Waterway has a number of areas that are routinely dredged to maintain navigation depths. Over the years, available sites for placement of dredged material have filled or turned into critical habitat for threatened species. An ArcView MS access database was developed to serve as an inventory of available placement areas and a tool for evaluating whether sites could serve as continual disposal areas or become ecologeical restoration sites. This system will be presented.
