Making the Transition from CAD to ArcGIS 8.1 Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management Author(s): Scott Cattran, Ken Chaffman This paper will present the migration from the use of CAD to ArcGIS in a data conversion environment. The paper will explore both native ArcGIS tools as well as custom tools created for increased productivity. The paper will also discuss the differences between data creation directly into a geodatabase and translation of data from CAD. Quality control and assurance pertaining to the use of connectivity rules versus custom applications as well as the use of predefined geodatabase models and symbology will also be discussed.
