AbstractMaps as a Program Management Platform: USDA Rural Development's MAP System Track: Federal Government Systems Author(s): J. Reid, Karen Murray The USDA's Mapping Analysis Program (MAP) system provides policy officials and program managers a desktop platform for monitoring their program actions and assessing them in relation to targeting and other objectives. MAP shows the location of rural development projects and enables Rural Development employees to filter their data to meet special program needs and to overlay analytic layers to assess program planning. MAP illustrates the use of ArcSDE and ArcIMS, along with ArcView shapefiles, and promises to be a platform that can be the basis for a governmentwide data sharing system. J.
