AbstractGIS for Groundwater Protection: Silicon Valley Solvent Plume Analysis Track: Environment Management Author(s): Thomas Mohr, James Crowley, Jeff Kapellas Solvent plume locations and data collected by the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board were evaluated with respect to several hydrogeologic attributes and proximity to water supply wells. Water quality data from supply wells was analyzed in an attempt to correlate detections of chlorinated solvent to solvents releases at industrial sites in Silicon Valley and to rank the long-term threat to groundwater quality presented by solvent plumes. Different approaches using spatial analysis algorithms were tested and are compared in this paper.
