Abstract
GIS in the Planning of Wireless Facilities in Lincoln, Nebraska

This paper will outline how this GIS project is a useful tool for city planners and government officials involved with telecomunications technology planning, specifically personal wireless facilities. The authors developed a spatial database of approved City and County permits for communication and wireless facilities in the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County, Nebraska. The database provides planners with updated information of personal wireless facility sites; facility design; and details on permits granted such as date approved, associated executive orders, resolutions, collocations, photos, and sight line analysis. This project addresses current concerns and issues involved with planning and the telecommunications industry on both public and private property. This information is a useful tool for city and county planners and government officials.
