AbstractDurango Combines Conventional Photogrammetry and LIDAR Technologies to Broaden Its Geodatabase Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Richard Szmajter, Lance Frisby, Bart Matthews In 2001, the City of Durango, Colorado, determined it needed to enhance its existing GIS database to better reflect the expanding urbanization in the small southwestern mountain community. Durango contracted Bohannan-Huston, Inc. of Albuquerque, New Mexico, to develop a hybrid photogrammetric program that combined conventional mapping methodologies with newer geotechnologies. The mixed approach fulfilled the City's digital mapping needs while remaining affordable and cost-effective. The City of Durango and representatives from Bohannan-Huston will highlight the step-by-step progression of this innovative project from the early development phase to the final delivery of the mapped products.
