AbstractUse of ArcEditor 8 for Production of Fire Run Maps Track: EMS, Fire, Disaster Management Author(s): Jeff Saunders, Tim Eckard The East Diablo Fire Protection District, charged with providing emergency response in east Contra Costa County, California, recently implemented a districtwide GIS using ArcEditor 8.1. The Fire District previously used hard-copy maps from multiple data sources to route response vehicles. The new GIS provides a current, consistent, and centralized geodatabase to improve routing accuracy and reduce emergency response time. This paper presents a case study of the Fire District's use of their GIS and ArcEditor mapping tools to maintain and produce hard-copy fire run (street address) map books to improve routing of individual fire engines and paramedic vehicles.
