AbstractGIS System Implementation Within the RMC Open Space Plan Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Chandra Slaven, Tony Howze, Gordon Robinson, H. Gene Hsieh The RMC Open Space plan included a large data collection and cataloging effort as well as GIS system implementation and integration for the San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy (RMC) under the direction of the California Department of Fish and Game. The Southern California project area included 1.2 million acres of developed and undeveloped land. The GIS system contains more than 600 records of data in digital and hardcopy format related to biological, demographical, environmental, historical, planning, and infrastructural categories for the entire project area. The type of information collected includes GIS, CAD, and aerial imagery data in addition to hard copy maps and other documents that were cataloged into the California Environmental Resources Evaluation System (CERES) online catalog.
