AbstractThe Evolution of GIS for use in Utility Master Plans Track: Water Distribution, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): John Hewitt, Pete Polito, Brian Long Since 1995, Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. has worked closely with the City of Sugar Land, Texas, to develop and refine a comprehensive Water and Wastewater Master Plan utilizing the power of GIS. The Master Plan includes evaluations of existing facilities and identifies future capital projects to meet the anticipated growth in demand for water and wastewater service. Updates to the Master Plan have included updated population and connection projections, revised water and wastewater flow projections, recommended wastewater collection and treatment improvements, and estimated costs and construction phasing plans. The latest updates have included complete utility database migration to GIS utilizing scanned construction drawings. John Hewitt Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc.
