Abstract
Evaluating the Availability of Large Agricultural Parcels for Agribusiness Development in Trinidad: a GIS approach

The Government of The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in its efforts to increase investment in agricultural development proposed to open large tracts of agricultural lands to commercial agribusiness ventures. As a precursor to this initiative, the government commissioned a project that would identify and evaluate the ability of all State agricultural lands to meet this objective. This paper will present the GIS approach used in identifying and evaluating such large agricultural lands in Trinidad. The approach provided in quick time the information needed to support this strategic land use initiative.
