For the last two years, Jefferson County, Alabama, The Alabama Department of Transportation, and the Alabama Department of Revenue, with the help of Atlantic Technologies, have been working on an agreement to develop a standardize GIS data model and organization that would allow the sharing of GIS data and costs. With the Governor signing the agreement, the model is now a reality. This agreement sets up the fundamental parameters that will be used for the development of a statewide mapping system--which local governments will be more than willing to live with.
