AbstractHonolulu Board of Water Supply's Enterprise GIS Deployment Using A Business Driven Approach Track: Water Distribution, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Ellen Hirayama, Skip Heise Like many large water utilities, the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (HBWS) has begun implementation of their next generation Geographic Information System (GIS) solution. The GIS program is a departure from the traditional department-by-department application development strategy indicative of the 1980s and 90s. This initiative is focused on implementing an enterprise GIS that supports the organizations business requirements and operational needs. The initiative is based on the Board's vision of providing staff with a supportive technical and information environment for improving the level of services to the customers of Honolulu. This paper will discuss how a business driven approach was used to identify, develop, and deploy Esri software technology, including ArcGIS, ArcIMS, and ArcPad to support the Board's specific enterprise business requirements and goals.
