AbstractMcKenzie River Confluence Biological Assessment and Restoration Plan Track: Environment Management Author(s): Rachel Schwindt Within the McKenzie River Watershed in Oregon, the confluence of the McKenzie and Willamette Rivers has seen the most impact from human disturbance. This assessment used GIS to compare the quantity and quality of changes in the river channel and riparian vegetation based on aerial photography from 1944 and 2000. GIS coverages were digitized over the aerial photos and attributed with landuse and vegetation descriptions. From the analysis of this GIS data, we were able to develop an action plan for restoring fish and wildlife habitat and to recommend potential restoration sites.
