Abstract
Using ArcIMS for 2002 FIFA World Cup Information

ArcIMS Japanese version was released in December 2001. This project is one of the first applications of ArcIMS in Japan which has been made available in public. In 2002, the FIFA world cup football games will be held in Korea and Japan. Our city (Niigata) is one of the host cities. It is the very first time to have the games in Asia and an extremely remarkable event in Niigata, so we are trying to put information on a Web site using ArcIMS in a bilingual environment (both in Japanese and English). This system is significant because it is one of the first ArcIMS applications to provide double-byte system environment in Japan. This public guide system will be very useful and informative for football fans around the world. This paper will present information on situation, subjects, and solutions.
