AbstractUsing GIS to Create a 3D Scientific Visualization Track: Ecology, Archaeology, and Conservation Author(s): Dianne Hart ArcView GIS and the ArcView 3D Analyst extension were used to create a visualization of the landscape at the Diamond Y Spring Preserve in West Texas. This Nature Conservancy site is environmentally sensitive because of both oil and gas drilling activities and heavy ranching use. A digital elevation model was created from a GPS survey at the site. A map of the elevation, soil factors, and vegetation communities was generated and will be used to manage the environmental conditions of the area which supports several federally endangered and threatened species. The presentation will demonstrate how the model was created.
