AbstractHow Do You Make Students Think with GIS? Track: Universities and Higher Education Author(s): Terry Brase Many users of GIS have progressed beyond the production of "pretty maps". They want employees that can interpret and come up with useful information that has cost benefit. Teaching critical thinking skills is very difficult but giving the student a background in technical skills and then the responsibility to answer real world problems starting with a question can be effective. The presenter will give his experience in creating a series of courses in which technical skills are built and then used to answer questions students will face in the real world.
